Tallybird: Add-on Charge Check — Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Tallybird: Add-on Charge Check ("the app") is provided by Micah Diehl. Contact: support@micahdiehl.com.
Add-on Charge Check checks your Shopify store's orders for product add-ons that were selected but not charged. This policy explains what data the app reads and stores, why, and how it is deleted. The data processing agreement between you and us is section 4 of the Terms of Service.
1. Data the app reads from your store
- Orders: order ID and number, line items (product and variant IDs, titles, quantities, prices, discounts), and the line item properties your product-options app saves on the order (for example "Engraving" and add-on amounts).
- The order's shipping or billing country, only to look up the product's current price in that country's market. The country is used during the check and is not stored.
- Products: current prices of the products in the order.
- Your app subscription status, from Shopify's billing system.
The app does not request or read customer names, email addresses, phone numbers or street addresses.
2. Data the app stores
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your store's myshopify domain | To know which store the data belongs to |
| An access token for your store (issued by Shopify when you install the app) | To read orders and add tags in the background |
| Your settings and rules (product and variant IDs you mark, property names, minimum charges) | To run the checks you set up |
| For each checked order: order ID, order number (for example #1001), when it was checked, how many problems were found and how many lines could not be price-checked | To avoid checking an order twice and to show what was checked |
| For each problem found: order ID and number, line item ID, problem type, expected and charged amounts, and a short description (product title and amounts) | To show you the problem |
| Orders waiting to be checked: order ID, time received, retry count and the last error message | To retry checks that failed |
| Your subscription status and when it was last confirmed | To run checks only for subscribed stores |
The app does not store customer personal data: no names, emails, phone numbers, addresses or payment details. It does not store staff accounts; it uses a store-level access token only.
On your orders in Shopify, the app adds the tag missing-addon-charge and an app-owned field listing the problems found. Both
stay part of your Shopify order data until you remove them.
3. Where the data is kept
- Render (render.com) hosts the app and its PostgreSQL database.
- Shopify provides the order data and billing.
- There are no analytics, advertising or other third parties. Data is not sold or shared.
4. How long data is kept, and deletion
- Checked orders, problems found and orders waiting to be checked are deleted automatically 180 days after they were created.
- When you uninstall the app, its access token is deleted right away. Shopify then sends a
shop/redactrequest 48 hours later, and the app deletes all data stored for your store (settings, rules, checked orders, problems and orders waiting to be checked). - When a customer asks you to delete their data, Shopify sends
customers/redactwith that customer's order IDs, and the app deletes everything it stored for those orders. - When a customer asks for their data, Shopify sends
customers/data_request. The app stores no customer personal data, so there is nothing to return beyond the order IDs and problem records described above. - Server logs (which may include your store domain and order IDs, but no customer data) are kept by Render for 7 days. Database backups are kept by Render for up to 3 days.
5. Security
- Data is sent over HTTPS between Shopify, the app and your browser.
- The database is encrypted at rest (AES-256, including backups), as described in Render's documentation.
- The app connects to its database with TLS required.
6. Changes and contact
We will update this page if what the app stores changes. Questions or requests: support@micahdiehl.com.
