Tallybird: Add-on Charge Check — Help & FAQ
Questions, a problem, or something looks wrong? Email support@micahdiehl.com and include your store's myshopify address and the order number if it's about a specific order.
Getting started
- Install Tallybird: Add-on Charge Check from the Shopify App Store and approve the subscription (14-day free trial).
- The app checks your last 60 days of orders. Problems found there are listed under Flagged orders, found by History.
- If you use Globo Product Options or OPTIS Product Options, there's nothing to set up. With another options app, or if you sell add-ons as separate products, mark them in Settings → Add-on products, or add a rule in Rules ("if Engraving is filled in, the order must include at least this much extra").
- From then on, every new order is checked, usually within a minute.
What does Add-on Charge Check check?
Each new order, line by line:
- an item where the customer picked a paid option (for example an engraving) but the price doesn't include that charge
- an item with options selected that was sold for 0
- an add-on item priced at 0, or brought to 0 by a discount
- an add-on ordered without the product it belongs to
- your own rules ("if Engraving is filled in, charge at least 5.00")
How quickly?
New orders are usually checked within a minute of being placed. Every hour, the app also re-checks orders from the last 48 hours, so an order missed because of a delivery problem is still caught the same day.
Which options apps does it work with?
Tested with Globo Product Options and OPTIS Product Options. Other options apps may save add-on data differently; for those, add your own rules or mark your add-on products in Settings.
What is the "expected" price based on?
The product's current price for the customer's country (Shopify Markets), plus the add-on amount your options app saved on the order. If the order has no address, the product's catalog price is used. It's always today's price, not the price on the day of the order, which is why older orders aren't price-checked (see below).
What does "Missed charges" at the top mean?
The total of expected minus charged amounts for your open problems. It says "at least" because amounts are per unit: a line with several units may have missed more.
Why are some lines "not price-checked"?
The app shows how many lines it couldn't price-check, and why, instead of guessing:
- Sold in a market priced in another currency. The app doesn't compare prices for those lines.
- Order older than 7 days (history check only). Prices may have changed since the order. The other checks (items or add-ons at 0, add-ons discounted to 0) still run.
- The current price couldn't be read (a temporary error).
- Custom item with no catalog price, for example a custom line on a draft order.
- Subscription item: its price includes the subscription discount.
Why are some orders "not checked"?
- No active subscription when the order came in.
- The app wasn't connected, for example right after a reinstall, before you opened it.
- Error: the check failed after 5 tries. The hourly re-check tries again for up to 48 hours.
What does it do to my orders?
It adds the tag missing-addon-charge to orders with a problem and saves the details in an app field on the order. It never changes prices, items, payments or customers, and it doesn't contact customers. Mark a problem resolved in the app once you've followed up; you can reopen it at any time.
Draft orders, POS and other sales channels?
Orders from all sales channels are checked, including orders created from draft orders. POS orders usually have no product options, so there's normally nothing to flag.
Subscription orders (subscribe & save)?
Items bought as a subscription aren't price-checked, because their price includes the subscription discount. The other checks (items or add-ons sold for 0, add-ons discounted to 0) still apply.
How much does it cost?
$4.99 every 30 days after a 14-day free trial, billed through your Shopify invoice. Uninstalling the app cancels the subscription.
What happens if I uninstall?
The subscription ends. 48 hours later Shopify asks us to delete your store's data, and we do (see the privacy policy). If you reinstall within that time, your settings and history are still there.
